Castle Howard Classic Car Show – June 2019

This was only the second the time this event has been held in the superb grounds and gardens of Castle Howard, near York, and this was our first time attending as a Club.

There was a variety of club stands – Yorkshire Supercars, Leeds MG Club, South Yorkshire TVR and Club Lotus to name but a few – together with vintage vehicles, classics and modern classics. The modern classics were grouped together in one area and we drew a lot of attention from the large number of public pouring into the grounds all day.

Our stand was made up of Danos’ Sonic Shadow, Mike’s Sonic Shadow, Dave H’s silver Mk3, Jean’s blue Mk2, my azure blue Mk2, David B’s white Mk2 and David Entwistle’s white Mk1, who joined us for the first time since joining the Club recently.

There was vehicle concours, overseen by Richard Lee, culminating in the Car of the Show award. I entered my Mk2 in the 1990s class and was very
pleased to be presented with the Special Bronze Award in this category.
